Beaches on the Upper Cape

If you’re looking to spend the day at the beach in Bourne, Mashpee, Falmouth, or Sandwich, the beaches on the Upper Cape have something for everyone. Mashpee, Falmouth, and Bourne all border Buzzards Bay and the Vineyard Sound and generally have warmer ocean temperatures and calmer waters than beaches situated on Cape Cod Bay, like those in Sandwich. Chapoquoit Beach in Falmouth is a favorite spot for kite boarders, while families tend to congregate on Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth for its amenities and shallow water. Check out a sunset at Monument Beach in Bourne, or head over to South Cape Beach in Mashpee for gentle waves and an expansive shoreline, perfect for combing for beach treasures.

While the water temperature in Sandwich may be anywhere from 5-10 degrees cooler than the south-facing beaches, you can find warm tidal pools, natural lazy rivers, and a fun family atmosphere at East Sandwich and Town Neck beaches. Seek out Sandy Neck beach for its miles-long shoreline and stunning views of Cape Cod Bay.
