Beaches on the Mid Cape
Visitors to the mid-Cape area can explore both north and south-facing beaches in the towns of Barnstable, Dennis, and Yarmouth. All three towns have beaches that border the cooler waters of Cape Cod Bay to the north and the warmer waters of Nantucket Sound to the south.
As the largest town on Cape, Barnstable has a wide variety of beaches to explore. Popular family-friendly destinations include Craigville Beach in Centerville and Dowses Beach in Osterville. If you’re looking to enjoy water sports like kiteboarding and windsurfing, Kalmus Beach on Hyannis Harbor is known for its windy conditions.
In addition to having access to both the north and south-facing beaches of Cape Cod, Yarmouth also offers a slightly different experience with beaches that border Bass River, known for its scenic views and marshy landscape. Here, you will find access points for great fishing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Also popular in Yarmouth amongst those who like to spend the day in the water, is Seagull Beach, where you can enjoy calm waves and warm water.
Just a town away from Yarmouth is Dennis, which is known for its stunning scenery and views of Cape Cod Bay. Head to Mayflower Beach where you will have plenty of space to set your blanket and chairs amongst the vast tidal flats that form at low tide. Corporation Beach is also worth a visit with the family and has amenities like restrooms, showers, and picnic areas.

Barnstable Beaches
Barnstable includes Centerville, Osterville, Hyannis, Marstons Mills, Cotuit, and West Barnstable villages. Resident, Handicap and Visitor weekly and seasonal pass Beach Stickers can be purchased at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. The sticker office is open starting in May, Monday through Friday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday and holidays 9am – 12pm. • The public beaches in Barnstable don’t allow dogs during the summer, but you are allowed to take them off-season after September 16th.

Resident and Non-Resident Dennis beach stickers can be purchased at Dennis Town Hall, located at 685 Route 134 in South Dennis. The sticker office opens Memorial Day weekend, and is open Monday – Saturday 9am – 4pm and Sunday 9am – 12pm. For questions on Dennis beach stickers, call 508-394-8300.
